PROJECT IN THE WORKS, CHECK BACK SOON!

(INFO OF DREAM PROJECT BELOW)

CARE[er]art

Our mission is to enrich the lives of care home residents through high quality artistic experiences while supporting the next generation of artists to build sustainable careers.

The project exists to bridge two gaps:

  • Care home residents often lack access to rich, meaningful, cultural experiences

  • Emerging artists need paid, real-world opportunities beyond traditional performance spaces

CARE[er]ART aims to bring solutions to these problems through one programme.

FOR CARE HOMES

Transforming care with the arts.

CARE[er]ART delivers high-quality programmes of performing arts, designed specifically for care homes and their residents.

Why It Matters: Many care homes already provide excellent activities for their guests, but often these are volunteers giving up their time and unable to dedicate enough engagement to make it as good as what care home residents deserve.

Our programmes are designed to -

  • Limit repetitive programming

  • Lift moods and feeling of isolation

  • Encourage memory recall and engagement

  • Create social connection

  • Reconnect people with loves of music, dance and theatre.

Three Direct Benefits To Your Home:

  • Enhances your activities programme with high quality provision

  • Demonstrates your commitment to enrichment and quality of life

  • Aims to engage residents who may not respond to traditional activities

What We Offer:

  • Music, Theatre and Dance

  • One-off performances (free!)

  • 4-8 week residencies (paid)

  • Interactive workshops

All programmes are delivered by exceptional graduates and emerging artists who are mentored in creating engaging, accessible and meaningful performances.

For Artists

Have an idea you want to develop?

The project awards small grants to artists that want to perform for communities.

We understand that artists face limited paid opportunities, that the performance pathways of old are oversubscribed and that there are few chances to develop your real-world practice.

We believe community arts can be exceptional, make you learn and discover new things about your practice and show you how beneficial your art can be to others.

What you get:

  • A paid £300 commission to develop or practice an idea over two days.

  • Build skills in facilitation

  • Explore socially engaged and community-based work

  • Opportunity to add to your portfolio

What you’ll do:

  • Create and deliver a 10-20 minute performance in a care home

  • Engage in a free 1-2-1 mentorship session about community practices

Who we’re looking for:

  • Musicians (Solo or Groups)

  • Solo or Duet Dancers

  • Theatre Makers

  • Interdisciplinary Artists

You don’t need experience in delivering community arts. You do need skills and training in your art form.

How to apply:

Commissions are rewarded on a rolling basis. Please email a showreel or CV or Cover Letter to jonnyhibbschoreographer@gmail.com, to start a conversation :).

PARTNERSHIPS

Calling ALL CONSERVATOIRES AND PEOPLE PASSIONATE ABOUT ARTIST DEVELOPMENT…

The CARE[ER]ART project is designed to prepare artists for real-world, socially engaged artistic careers by facilitating workshops and placements that develop exceptional skills in community practice and delivering to training artists and emerging world-class talent.

Rightly so, conservatoires focus on technique and artistry, ultimately to improve the employability of artists for their skills. Offering placements, one of workshops or modules in the community sector, adds to graduate employability and helps students to build a portfolio of experience whilst still studying. Whilst equipped with fantastic subject knowledge, some graduates of UK conservatoires feel they lack experience in

  • Working and facilitating in diverse settings

  • Funding artistic projects

  • Understanding of how to build sustainable artistic careers.

What We Offer

  • Workshops for students/graduates with community practitioners on delivery in community settings, inclusive practice and funding.

  • Placements for students/emerging artists to perform and facilitate sessions in care home.

Importantly, CARE[ER]ART doesn’t aim to turn all artists into community practitioners but, instead, opens doors for emerging artists to learn from performing in different circumstances, re-frame their practice and understand other employable options with their art.
